10 Natural Ways to Relieve Painful Inflammation

March 9, 2023 By Desiree Eaglin

This inflammation post is a sponsored post, all opinions are our own.

Getting older is the worst, amiright? If my back doesn’t hurt then my knees decide to voluntarily give up on me as I walk (or in this case…fall) down the stairs. Painful inflammation can appear in the body as joint pain and joint stiffness. In an effort to reduce the amount of pharmaceutical medications I take, I studied up on natural remedies for pain and inflammation and below is a list of the best 10 natural ways to relieve painful inflammation that I found. Thankfully, natural remedies for pain and inflammation include a variety of easy to follow guidelines.

DIET

  • EAT
Loading up on anti-inflammatory foods such as:
Berries (blueberries, strawberries, raspberries and blackberries
Fatty-omega rich-fish (salmon, sardines, herring, anchovies and mackerel)
Broccoli, kale, cauliflower and brussel sprouts
    Avocado
    Green Tea
Peppers (bell peppers and chili peppers)
    Mushrooms
    Grapes
    Extra Virgin Olive Oil
    Dark Chocolate and Cocoa
    Tomatoes
    Cherries
  • LIMIT
Limiting sugar, processed foods, caffeine and alcohol will definitely help reduce painful inflammation.
  • DRINK
Drinking juices such as orange, tomato, pineapple and carrot juices which are all high in vitamin C, will assist in neutralizing free radicals that lead to inflammation.

SLEEP

A well rested body is best and although we cannot always control the quality of our sleep, we can try a few tricks to slowly improve the quality of sleep we get. Such as setting a bed time routine, avoiding screens at least 1 hour before bed and creating a comfortable sleeping space that is dark and quiet.

SUPPLEMENTS

  • VITAMINS
These vitamins are naturally anti-inflammatory: Vitamin A, B Vitamins, Vitamin C, Vitamin D, Vitamin E and Vitamin K.
  • OTHER SUPPLEMENTS
    Omega 3, Magnesium and Curcumin

EXERCISE

According to the CDC, getting regular exercise of moderate activity for at least 30 minutes a day for a total of 150 minutes a week will benefit everyone, especially those with low grade inflammation.

TOPICAL REMEDIES

  • Aloe Vera
  • Witch Hazel
  • Anti Inflammatory Cream that contain Arnica (a plant in the sunflower family)

Topical remedies such as gels and lotions can help reduce painful inflammation right where it hurts the most. Doctor Hoy’s offers a full line of natural pain relief products. For example, the Arnica Boost Recovery Cream is a combination of three powerful ingredients: Arnica, MSM, and Aloe Vera. These natural ingredients help promote healing, and relieve pain and inflammation. Doctor Hoy’s Natural Arnica Boost cream is a natural anti-inflammatory designed to provide long lasting pain relief for rapid bruise relief, joint pain, muscle soreness, neuropathy and more. It is my personal fav. My son prefers Doctor Hoy’s Pain Relief Gel, especially after a long day on the baseball field.
