It All Began 22 Years Ago
The Box Tops for Education program began in 1997. General Mills wanted to create a program to help support education and benefit America’s schools and so, Box Tops for Education was born. It was a very successful program, right from the start. By 1998, more than 30,000 schools were clipping Box Tops and earning cash to buy the things they needed: books, computers, playground equipment and more.

We are fortunate that our kids elementary school takes collecting Box Tops very seriously. They have created contests where the classroom in each grade level that is able to collect the most Box Tops wins a popsicle party! All of the kids in the school participate and our school was able to earn over fourteen hundred dollars in the last school year, crazy right? My good friend has volunteered to be our school’s Box Top collector and she has done an amazing job at keeping the kids excited to participate, the teachers invested and the administration motivated. I am so proud of her and her hard work! My kids have each won a popsicle party for having the classroom with the most Box Tops and that has motivated them to help clip them at home.
