Hanart Culture Chinese Lantern Festival

The Evening Sky will Come Alive!

Starting November 15, the Pomona Fairplex will host the Hanart Culture Chinese Lantern Festival a fully immersive multicultural experience the entire family will love. This visually-stunning event combines art, tradition, culture and cuisine, creating opportunities for amazing photographs and wonderful memories. We will receive tickets in exchange for a review, all opinions are our own.

An Evening of Color and Wonder

The outdoor evening skies will become ablaze with the color and light with more than 1,000 beautifully handcrafted lanterns. The lanterns range in size from 12 – 23 feet tall, and combines art, tradition, and culture. This year’s theme, “The Wild,” features five different locations: America, Oceania, Asia, Antarctica and Africa, with lanterns representing wild animals from each region, including Cheetahs, panda bears, jellyfish, majestic cranes, lions, and even dinosaurs.

Each lantern is fashioned by masters from Zigong, China, the center of the country’s lantern heritage, using a tradition that extends back centuries. The lanterns are created using steel frames surrounded by colorful rayon “skins” and illuminated from within by LED lights. Additional mosaic-like displays are formed with small glass medicine bottles filled with brightly colored liquid to create dragons, peacocks and giant pearls that glimmer and sparkle in the crisp fall air.

In addition to 1000 larger-than life lanterns that can tower up to 23 feet tall, discover:

  • Dinosaur rides for kids
  • Captivating Kung Fu performances (plus free Kung Fu coaching on stage with
    the performers)
  • Take home uniquely handcrafted souvenirs from Chinese artisans (they make wonderful holiday presents)
  • Experience shadow puppetry with master puppeteers from China (it’s interactive, so kids can play behind the stage, too!)
  • Savor a variety of Asian and American cuisines
