A mysterious break-in on Orange Street fuels the story of Hilde Cracks the Case #1: Hero Dog! While author and real-life reporter Hilde Lysiak enjoys reporting on crimes in her town, she writes all different types of stories that appear in her newspaper, the Orange Street News. Hilde Cracks the Case is a fictional series, but each book is inspired by a news story Hilde has covered in real life. Young readers will learn about the process of reporting as they tag along with Hilde on her wonderful journalistic adventures. Each book even closes with a fictional news article. We are partnering with Scholastic for this giveaway, all opinions are our own.

The Hilde Cracks the Case Series
Hilde Kate Lysiak is the reporter and publisher of the Orange Street News. Since starting her paper at the age of 7 Hilde has written and published hundreds of stories in her hometown of Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania. Hilde has even been recognized for her work in the New York Times, NBC Today Show, GMA, The Washington Post, and thousands of other media across the world! Hilde Lysiak’s reporting skills are put to the test in this fun early chapter book mystery series. Joanne Lew-Vriethoff’s personality-filled illustrations appear on every page, bringing Hilde’s adventures to life for young readers. Hilde loves her Orange Street neighborhood in Selinsgrove and each book includes a map that shows the important locations she visits as part of her investigative reporting in that story.
Book #1: Hero Dog
Oh no! There’s been a break-in on Orange Street! Cupcakes have been stolen, and soon a pie goes missing, too. Hilde and her sister/photographer, Izzy, must interview witnesses and follow the clues. Hilde knows that it is important to interview people in the neighborhood to discover if they have information about breaking news. Can Hilde crack the case in time to post her news story online?
