The Spookiest Of All Afternoon Snacks

Any Ordinary Day Can Be Special.

I adore making ordinary-just-like-any-other-day AKA totally normal days extra special for my Funny Kids. You know what I mean? Holidays and birthdays are always special but a random Tuesday in the middle of the month? Lets make it fun, I say! Whenever I have the extra minute (and lets be honest: the motivation as well) to do something crafty that I know the Funny Kids will love I typically jump at the opportunity. Just like many kids across the country, my Funny Kids are having an interesting school year. This school year consists of social distancing from their beloved friends, awkward face shields and tons of hands washing. To minimize the weird impact on my Funny Kids, I have them in a “hybrid” program at their elementary school. They only go to school for a few short hours a day and come home before lunch. That way they’re experiencing the best of both worlds. Well, the best that we can do anyway.

Make It Fun…and they will eat it.

Since the Funny Kids are home for lunch every day, some days I am forced to get creative to get them to eat healthfully. Because honestly, frozen pizza is fast to cook and no one complains about eating it. However, one trick I have up my sleeve to always get the Funny Kids to eat their veggies is by serving it too them fancifully. Yeah, that’s right…I said fancifully haha. Of course fancy means different things to different people. For these Funny Kids ‘fancifully’ means I put contrasting colored veggies on a plate, carved a small pumpkin and loaded it with our favorite dip and called it a day. Crudités for the win, I say.

Crudités + Juicy Juice For The Weekday Lunch Snack Win.

Of course a sharp, yet fanciful crudités platter isn’t going to cut the food pyramid needs every day, but every once it awhile it’s a super fun switch up from an ordinary school lunch. My kids were super impressed with my creativity of putting our favorite dip into a small pumpkin that they couldn’t help themselves from devouring the entire platter of vegetables in a matter of minutes. This particular vegetable platter is so easy – just add your child’s favorite vegetable and dip and it’s a win!

Funny Mom Tip: Add a new vegetable they’ve never tried into the mix and let them experiment with it!

How To Make A Halloween Crudité

Ingredients:
Your favorite raw vegetables
Your favorite vegetable dip (we like dill Ranch)

Directions:
Carve off the top of your tiny pumpkin and hollow it out
Rinse out your hollowed out pumpkin
Add your favorite vegetable dip

Enjoy!
