2020 Food Holidays

So, I know that 2020 is almost over (thank goodness) and I realize you’re probably wondering why I am just now choosing to do a “2020 Food Holidays” post here at The Funny Mom Blog. And quite simply, I just needed something to look forward to. Food + Holidays + Gifts is certainly 3 things I can look forward to. As you know, our tag line: The Funny Mom Blog…Because Motherhood requires Funny is so very true especially during these l o n g virtual learning days. So alas, below is a list of the best National food holidays and some fun gift ideas throughout the rest of this wretched year!

September

National Linguine Day- Sept. 15
National Guacamole Day- Sept. 16
There are hundreds of ways to prepare guacamole. People spice up their guacamole with onion, garlic, cumin, tomato, cilantro, or even store-bought salsa. Traditionally, guacamole is served with tortilla chips but it’s also good with corn chips, carrot sticks and celery. Guac is delicious on sandwiches and hamburgers or in salads. Check out my award winning guacamole recipe!
National Cheeseburger Day- Sept. 18
Prepare to enjoy an American food icon — a cheeseburger oozing warm cheesy deliciousness on top of a moist, juicy patty.
National Pepperoni Pizza Day- Sept. 20
Need I say more?
National Queso Day- Sept. 20
Almost any cheese lover will tell you that the world got a little better the day that chili con queso dip got invented.

October

Homemade Cookies Day – October 1
What kind of cookies are your fav?
National Taco Day – October 4
October 4th is a Sunday. Does anyone else find this a missed opportunity to have National Taco Day on TACO TUESDAY?
National Salmon Day – October 8
My 10 year old daughter favorite!
International Beer and Pizza Day – October 9
Say no more. I’m an interesting kind of mom in where I like to wear my gorgeous pearl drop earrings as I drink my beer and eat my pizza. 🙂
Food Day – October 24
Easy enough! Y
National Greasy Foods Day – October 25
Hello fast food drive-thru, I’m comin.

November

National Sandwich Day – November 3
I take mine with roasted chicken, cheese, lettuce and Dijon!
National Candy Day – November 4
National Donut Day – November 5

I can go for a regular ol’ glazed donut any day! Word is, Krispy Kreme usually has a pretty sweet donut deal on this day.
National Nachos Day – November 6
National Men Make Dinner Day – November 7

BUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA otherwise known as “National Spaghetti Day” here at the Funny household since that’s about all Mr. Funny likes to make. But that is ok because he buys me the best gifts, like these crazy beautiful birthstone ear chains. Swoon.
Cook Something Bold & Pungent Day – November 8
hmm
National Cake Day – November 26
National French Toast Day – November 28

French toast was created by medieval European cooks who needed to use every bit of food they could find to feed their families. They knew day-old bread could be revived when moistened and heated. They also added eggs for additional moisture and protein.
Chocolates Day – November 29

Did you know It takes 400 cocoa beans to make one pound of chocolate?

December

Eat Red Apple Day – December 1
National Apple Pie Day – December 3
National Cookie Day – December 4

Did you know that Oreo’s are the world’s best selling cookie? It’s true.
National Cupcake Day – December 15
National Chocolate Covered Anything Day – December 16

Ok..then.
National Maple Syrup Day – December 17

And to be sweet just like maple syrup, you can gift your one true love 5 golden rings. What a perfect holiday gift!
National Pumpkin Pie Day – December 25

Thanksgiving wouldn’t be the same for the Funny Fam and I without a slice or two of pumpkin pie. I’m surprised that National Pumpkin Pie Day falls on Christmas Day.
National Candy Cane Day – December 26

Each year about 2 billion candy canes are made and 90% of candy canes are sold between Thanksgiving and Christmas.
National Fruit Cake Day – December 27
The oldest reference that can be found regarding a fruitcake dates back to Roman times.
Bacon Day – December 30

One of my very good friends loves and adores bacon. Now, whenever I hear of a National Bacon Day, I always think of her!

Happy National Food Days Funny Friends!
