There’s A New Neighborhood Market Coming To Town – ALDI To Open 45 Stores In Southern California

ALDI to open 45 stores in Southern California this year - The Funny Mom Blog

There’s A New Neighborhood Market Coming To Town

There’s a new neighborhood market coming to town, unparalleled discount superstore ALDI who’s name is synonymous with high quality food products for amazingly discounted prices, will be opening approximately 45 stores in Southern California by the end of this year. I was invited along with a few other leading mom bloggers to a behind-the-scenes preview of the Moreno Valley ALDI, all opinions are my own.

A Long-Standing History Of Savings

The ALDI guiding principle: “great quality shouldn’t come at a high price; rather, great quality should come with everyday low prices” will prove to be successful in Southern California I believe, as shoppers will come to appreciate the incredible value in everyday shopping. ALDI’s guiding principle is backed up by their no-frills grocery shopping experience that truly focuses on customers first. Founded in 1961 by the Albrecht family in Germany, the first United States ALDI store opened in Iowa in 1976. Headquartered in Batavia, Illinois, ALDI now has more than 1,500 stores across 33 states and employs over 22,000 people.

The day I visited the ALDI Moreno Valley store for the behind-the-scenes tour consisted of none other than a tour of the new store, samplings of a few ALDI exclusive brands and the opportunity to talk one-on-one with Southern California ALDI executives. It was a refreshing experience for a refreshing grocery store design. I am looking forward to not only share with you about a store that’ll change your grocery store experience but also to start shopping there myself.

ALDI-Price-Comparisons

A Simple Approach = Big Savings

ALDI’s simple approach to grocery shopping overall translates into big savings for ALDI shoppers. Those little differences add up to big savings for customers and are the key reasons ALDI is one of America’s favorite grocery stores. Unlike giant superstores, ALDI occupies less than 12,000 square feet, containing only 4 or 5 super wide aisles which are loaded with the most commonly purchased items that are displayed in their designed shipping boxes to help save time and resources to restock shelves. Shoppers will find more than 90 percent of the groceries ALDI offers are ALDI exclusive brands, with a few name brands mixed in as well. ALDI ensures that its products meet or exceed the quality and taste of national name brands with it’s state-of-the-art Test Kitchen. You’ll feel good about purchasing ALDI exclusive brand too because you won’t find synthetic colors, partially hydrogenated oils or added MSG in any ALDI exclusive brand foods. During the behind-the-scenes tour I had the opportunity to taste several ALDI exclusive brand foods and I was very impressed with the taste and texture of each item. So much so in fact, that I purchased a bunch of items (like chips, cheese, eggs, milk and frozen lobster macaroni and cheese!) to take home.

The Price Can’t Be Beat

ALDI exclusive brands are the key to saving money and in fact, shoppers have found that switching from national brands to ALDI exclusive brands can save them up to 50% on their grocery bill (based upon a price comparison of comparable products sold at leading national retail grocery stores). And with ALDI’s double guarantee, shopping at ALDI is risk free because if for any reason you are not 100% satisfied with any ALDI exclusive brand food, ALDI will replace the product and refund the purchase price.

Fresh, Local Produce

During our tour we spent a great amount of time in the produce section and I was impressed to learn that ALDI partners with a wide variety of growers including local farmers, to offer a wide variety of fresh, in-season produce, including organic fruits and vegetables. And the prices were insane!

ALDI-Quarter-Shopping-Carts

Got A Quarter?

The ALDI quarter cart system, in which shoppers must insert a quarter to use a shopping cart and the quarter is returned when the cart is returned is another example of the grocer’s efficient use of time and space. With the shopping carts collected near the entrance of the store, the less man hours are spent wasted retrieving carts therefore passing more savings onto the customer.

Got A Bag?

ALDI encourages customers to bring their own bags from home, cutting down on paper and plastic waste (that’s good for the environment), however bags are available for purchase as well. After checking out and seeing all of your money savings on groceries, shoppers must bag their own groceries at the long counter at the end of the check out lane. That helps keep the lines moving so shoppers can get in, get out and get home to their families.

I have high hopes for ALDI stores throughout Southern California and I cannot wait to start shopping there weekly for my families needs!

We are very excited to have this store at last. We love shopping there. All the prices are much more affordable than other grocery stores & their own products are a lot better than national brands. The ambiance of the store is very welcoming & love the customer service

I can’t enter but I just want to say we’ve had Aldi in Illinois for over 20 years and it’s such a great store. So happy that it’s now spreading to other parts of the country for others to enjoy and take advantage of great savings. Happy Shopping!

They haven’t opened the one that will be close to me yet, but I’ve seen many pictures of the great deals people get there (especially produce). I was actually disappointed to be called off from jury duty last week because one of the new California stores is near the courthouse!

Aldis is a great place to shop for groceries. They even have organic produce. In today’s economy, it is crazy not to shop at Aldis. If there is something that they don’t have, I get it where I can. I most always buy store brands, so I’m fine with shopping at Aldis

We stopped at one during a Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana vacation and loved the prices and the selection. We tried to visit one in Germany but it ended up just being their warehouse center. I heard that they have other stuff than food in foreign countries.
