Why every kid needs to go to Legoland

Greetings From Sunny Carlsbad, California!

Located in Carlsbad, California just north of San Diego is Legoland – an amusement park full of bright primary colors, plastic bricks galore and every kid’s building dreams.

In December, I asked my soon-to-be 7 year old what he wanted to do for his birthday. I gave him a plethora of party ideas including game truck parties, lazer tag parties and more. He came up with the idea to go to Legoland with a friend on his own. I couldn’t be more delighted to fulfill his wish, Legoland is one of my favorite Southern California amusement parks. I contacted the park on behalf of this site and I was given tickets for review purposes. All opinions are my own.

Legoland sets itself apart from other Southern California amusement parks by it’s low key demeanor, hands on activities and outside rides. Unlike other parks, Legoland has relatively shorter wait times for it’s rides which all happen to be outdoors.

Eight Lego Brick Lands!

The park is divided into 8 sections
Dino Island
DUPLO Village
Fun Town
Pirate Shores
Castle Hill
Land of Adventure
Imagination Zone
Miniland USA

There is also plenty of dining options including burgers, pizza and healthy fixin’s too.

Are You Tall Enough To Ride?

Every themed area of Legoland offers rides for big kids and little kids alike. Ride height restrictions are posted at each individual ride and attraction and on their website, as well as printed on the Park Maps. It’s a good idea to know the restrictions before you go to Legoland so that there will not be any surprises if you’re going with little kids. You can download the Legoland Height Restrictions Guide here.

However, what sets Legoland apart is the availability for fun and play for little kid’s at every ride in the park. Even if they are too small to ride the “big kid’s” ride, Legoland has created  play area’s to keep everyone happy. For example, at the Sky Cruiser ride there is a large lego building area for the little kids to play as moms and dads wait in line with the big kids.

Legoland have even created this What To Do When You Are Two At Legoland handy guide, which lists all of the available rides and attractions that are perfect for your littlest people.

Fun, Fun, Fun!

This trip to Legoland was extra special and just my son, his friend and I went. So we were able to ride everything their little hearts desired, eat all the yummy sweets we wanted and we didn’t have a care in the world. We went on a Saturday (January 11th) and the longest we had to wait in line was about 40 minutes for the Sky Cruisers ride, which was totally fine and do-able.

Being 28 weeks pregnant at the time of our visit wasn’t a hindrance either, I went knowing that I would sit out on most of the rides. I waited in each line with them and then watched them ride with squeee from the side lines. It was the perfect day for them and the perfect day for me. In all honesty, I can’t remember seeing my son have so much fun. Which was probably a result of exhilaration from the freedom mixed with the thrill of the rides. The boys were happy and excited the entire day, there was never a down, grouchy moment (which, lets be honest – is amazing and worth every penny spent).

Do It All…And Do It Twice!

We rode every ride they wanted, some rides we even rode twice. We covered the entirety of Legoland grounds in 6 hours with a quick lunch break at noon. We even went to the Sea Life Aquarium too, which was my son’s friends favorite.

Under The Sea At Sea Life Aquarium!

The Sea Life Aquarium at Legoland is an absolute must see and offers a perfect underwater balance to the outside adventure of Legoland. You can take a sun break and cool off in the air conditioning while gazing at pretty fishies. The picture opportunities at the Sea Life Aquarium can’t be beat either.
