Little Apple Pie Pockets Recipe

February 5, 2013 By Desiree Eaglin

applesMaking simple and delicious recipes at home with your kids is a great way to spend quality time together. I have found that creating super simple recipes with my kids out of ingredients we already have in the refrigerator and cupboards the most fun.

They love being hands on and following directions. But most of all, they absolutely adore enjoying their creations.

This recipe for Little Apple Pie Pockets  is made out of everyday ingredients that you more than likely already have in your kitchen.

I’ll admit now that I ate most of them. Oh yes. I did.

Ingredients:

  • 2 Golden Delicious Apples
  • 2 Tablespoons Sugar
  • 1 Teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 1 Package of Refrigerated Biscuits
  • Flour for dusting
  • Rolling Pin

rolling

Directions:
Heat the oven to 350°F. Chop apples into small chunks. In a small bowl, combine sugar and cinnamon. Stir 1/2 of the cinnamon sugar into the chopped apples.
Roll each biscuit to about a 5″ circle. Spoon apple mixture onto circles. Fold circles over and pinch edges to make half-moons. Place on a baking sheet.
Brush pies with water and sprinkle with remaining cinnamon sugar (we used tons).
Bake 20 minutes
Enjoy!

missy

The kids liked taking turns using the rolling pin. One would roll and the other would get their fingers smashed by the rolling pin sprinkle the flour.

making

They became very territorial about which Little Apple Pie Pockets were theirs to give to their daddy. They ended up kissing them as if that invisible kiss would stake claim on the little dough. I realized my kids are stranger than I originally thought.

The best thing about cooking in the kitchen with kids is that it is ok to get messy!

We had a lot of fun making these little delicious treasures and I hope you do too! I have included a printable recipe below.
