Making Music with the Zya App & a $20 iTunes Giveaway

January 17, 2014 By Desiree Eaglin

I sing to my kids everyday, I sing in the shower, I sing in the car and I most certainly sing to the kids every morning to wake them up. I make up rhyming songs, I sing popular tunes that are on the radio, I sing nonsense and I know the kids love it. Well, they’ve learned to tolerate it anyway. I sing so much and incorporate music in our daily lives so much because not only do I just enjoy it, I also understand the benefits of music education.

The Benefits of Music Education

Did you know that musical education has been linked to increased IQ scores, superior spatial-temporal skills, physical skills (like hand-eye coordination) and improved test skills? Above all that, listening to music and making music during daily tasks just makes it more fun. Learning to make music improves hand eye coordination and teaches natural rhythm and balance among tons of other skills like patience. I encourage my kids to play with home made instruments almost everyday.

Making Music With The Zya App

The new Zya App, available on iTunes for iPhones and iPads is a revolutionary app that allows players ages 4 years old and up to create “hit” songs. Children can learn how to make their own music, incorporating beats, rhythm and even their own voice. Players even have the ability to mash up popular culture songs like Blurred Lines, Hall of Fame and Poker Face.

Zya app

What is unique and super cool about the Zya App is that you can share the hits you create with your friends and family via social media. That way, your musical talents will not go unnoticed.

My oldest and I have been having a blast taking turns creating our musical masterpieces. I must say, that with the Zya App’s voice recording features, I sound mighty professional. Sure, I may embarrass the kids a bit when I belt out my tunes into my iPad but we all have fun doing it together. Here is the video of the music we created, although I am singling like a lunatic we converted my voice into an instrument. Enjoy!

The Zya App is free and totally fun. I urge you to give it a go. Leave a comment with your link to your song!
