Thank You @SproutChannel For Granting A Little Girl’s Birthday Wish

August 5, 2013 By Desiree Eaglin

We are huge PBS kids fans here, especially Sprout where we watch the Sunny Side Up Show every morning and the Goodnight Show every evening. My daughter’s one birthday wish was to have her very own birthday card shown on Sprout, so like a desperate good mother I set out to make that happen.
I spent loads of money on craft supplies. I racked my brain for crafty ideas. I stalled. I stressed. I cried. And then I sat down and made the card.
It came out as good as I had hoped it would.

Our cat’s name is Liger. I didn’t think that would sound nice on tv. So I went with the generic “kitty” instead.

I highly suggest purchasing premade letters. It saved me a great amount of time. I did hand make the Sunshine Barn on the front though and that took a looooong time.

Handmade birthday cards must be submitted to Sprout at least 2 weeks before the child’s birthday. So, for 2 whole weeks I stressed and fretted and worried and hoped the card that I made for her would make it on air.

Tips For Getting A Birthday Card On Sprout:

  • Be Original
  • Use rhymes or cute sayings
  • Use good photos
  • Include your child’s favorite Sprout characters
  • Submit your card early
  • Write a personalized note to the staff, thanking them and showing appreciation
  • Do not use pink, white, orange or red paper
  • Use BIG letters
  • Don’t forget to include the release form
  • Use a simple yet clever design

Thank you so much to the PBS Kids Sprout team for making my little girl’s birthday wish come true. She was so thrilled to see her birthday card on tv right next to chica!
And now, without further ado here is the video of the birthday card!!
