The Jungle Book For A New Generation

Many strange tales are told of this Jungle.
But none so strange as the tale of the cub we called Mowgli… ~ Bagheera

It’s safe to say that each of us have a fond memory or two of Disney films throughout our childhoods – that is quite simply the magic of Walt Disney Animation. For me, I get the warm and fuzzies watching Walt Disney Animation classics such as Alice in Wonderland, Sleeping Beauty and The Jungle Book. There is something about adorable animals sing-song-along songs that gets me every time. The newest Walt Disney Animation venture – a redo of “The Jungle Book” once again catapults Walt Disney Animation into the forefront of advanced animation technology while retelling the timeless Rudyard Kipling’s tale for a new generation.

Recently, The Funny Mom Blog contributor Judith had the immense pleasure to view The Jungle Book at Dolby Cinema at AMC Prime in Century City. Seeing a film within this dynamic theater is an experience one shouldn’t miss. With supreme visual and audio technology, and reclined seating that’s more comfortable than my couch, Dolby Cinema at AMC Prime is worth it’s weight in gold. This is a sponsored post, all opinions are our own.

Based on the timeless story by Rudyard Kipling, “The Jungle Book” is an all-new, live-action epic adventure about our the beloved characters we know and adore: Mowgli, a man-cub raised by a family of wolves, Shere Khan, the fearsome tiger, Bagheera, the trusty mentor, Baloo, the loveable bear and Kaa, the deadly python. Just as the classic The Jungle Book, in the newest version Mowgli finds he is no longer welcome in the jungle when scary tiger Shere Khan, who bears the scars of Man, promises to eliminate what he sees as a threat. Urged to abandon the only home he’s ever known, Mowgli embarks on a captivating journey of self-discovery, guided by  mentor Bagheera, and the free-spirited bear Baloo. Along the way, Mowgli encounters jungle creatures who don’t exactly have his best interests at heart, including Kaa, a python whose seductive voice and gaze hypnotizes the man-cub, and the smooth-talking King Louie, who tries to coerce Mowgli into giving up the secret to the elusive and deadly red flower: fire.

Voice Cast: Perfected

Quite possibly my favorite aspect of The Jungle Book is the perfect casting of Mowgli and of the actors that voiced each of the dynamic animal characters. Each actor truly embodies the spirit of the animal they are playing and it is fascinating.

Bill Murray – Baloo
Sir Ben Kingsley – Bagheera
Idris Elba – Shere Khan
Lupita Nyong’o – Raksha
Scarlett Johansson – Kaa
Giancarlo Esposito – Akela
Neel Sethi – Mowgli
Christopher Walken – King Louie

“The Jungle Book” is inspired by Disney’s classic animated film, with an approach all its own with much more action and thrilling moments than the classic movie. Director Jon Favreau says the fought to: “We embrace the mythic qualities of Kipling in the more intense tonal aspects of the film, but we left room for what we remember from the ’67 film, and sought to maintain those charming Disneyesque aspects.”

I cannot express enough just how amazing this film is. The Jungle Book truly captures it’s mission of creating a visual feast of a film while retelling a classic story we all know and love. Seeing The Jungle Book in the state-of-the-art Dolby Cinema at AMC Prime theater is an example of advanced technology and art converging into perfect harmony. I LOVE the comfortable reclining chairs, the ample space between theater rows, the amazing surround sound that utilizes Jon Favreau’s “Fantasound” and the amazing large theater screen. I urge you to see all films, most especially The Jungle Book at an Dolby Cinema at AMC Prime.

Dolby Cinema at AMC Prime: Taking Cinema To The Next Step

Dolby Cinema combines the most powerful image and sound technologies with inspired cinema design to transform your 3D and IMAX 3D The Jungle Book watching into a completely captivating cinematic event.

The action comes alive in a strikingly vivid and realistic image that renders each moment with spectacular impact. The Jungle Book was created with state-of-the-art technology in an all-new, immersive, jaw-dropping viewing experience. The film will be spectacular in 3D and IMAX 3D at Dolby Cinema at AMC Prime!

Moving Audio

You feel like you’re inside the story as lifelike sound flows all around you to create a powerfully moving experience. And you’ll want to feel truly like an inhabitant of the gorgeous yet wild world of The Jungle Book: trust me! Director Jon Favreau used an innovative surround sound technique called FantaSound. Fantasound was originally developed for Fantasia by Walt Disney’s innovative imaginering to put the audience right in the middle of the music. For The Jungle Book, Jon Favreau put microphones on the orchestra members, and when audiences see The Jungle Book in theaters like Dolby Cinema at AMC Prime they will feel that there are instruments that move around the theater. You will be able to experience what Walt’s vision was!!

Inspired Design

Every aspect of the design, from the entrance to interior to seating, comes together to make the experience uniquely immersive and powerful. SO much time, effort and work went into creating The Jungle Book and watching the feature truly deserves an amazing cinematic experience.

Filmmakers employed up-to-the-minute technology to tell the story in a contemporary and immersive way, blending live-action performances with stunning CG environments and extraordinary photo-real animal characters that artists stylized to elevate the storytelling. Trust me when I say that you won’t believe that the animals you see on screen at the Dolby Cinema at AMC Prime are not real, the technology used in “The Jungle Book” actually brings these characters to life, and makes them photo-real and Mowgli looks as if he’s really there in a seamless, believable way. The Jungle Book truly is a film that cannot be missed.
