Top 10 places to visit in southern california with kids
I may be a little biased, but I think there is no better place to visit or to raise a family than Southern California. With near perfect weather year round, SoCal is a childhood paradise. What makes Southern California so amazing is that within an hour’s drive you can go from surf and sand at the beach to dry desert to snowy mountains; the Southern California landscape is the best. I have rounded up what I believe are the top 10 places to visit in southern california with kids:

Newport Beach – Balboa Village
Take a walk on the Balboa Pier, built in 1906, and soak in the SoCal sun before heading to the Balboa Fun Zone for arcade games, a Ferris wheel ride, bumper cars and ice cream. If you have the time, take a whale watching trip with Davy’s Locker or rent a bike and ride the boardwalk.

Disneyland & California Adventure
No trip to Southern California would be complete without a trip to Disneyland and California Adventure. Disneyland is the personification of childhood magic. Ride the amusement rides and get enveloped in childlike fantasy with your favorite Disney characters. Dine at one of the many fine restaurants in the parks or at Downtown Disney and be sure to catch the Color of Wonder show at California Adventure.

San Diego Balboa Park
There are thousands of activities to do with kids in San Diego, however Balboa Park encompasses the best of what San Diego has to offer for kids. Balboa Park holds fifteen museums, performing arts venues, beautiful gardens and the iconic San Diego Zoo.

Palm Springs
Most well-known for its golf and sun bathing leisure, Palm Springs also offers tons of kid friendly amenities such as dynamic and super fun hotels with amazing pools and splash pads, the Living Desert Zoo, and of course the iconic Palm Springs Aerial Tramway!

Oak Glen – Apple Picking
The gorgeous city of Oak Glen, located in the Inland Empire is open year-round for premier Southern California apple picking. Located within a scenic 5 mile loop are over 30 ranches, farms and businesses that are ideal for wholesome family fun. If you visit during apple picking season or just to spend a day in the crisp Oak Glen air, your kids will love it.

Old Town Temecula
Located in the heart of Temecula wine country, Old Town Temecula is a destination that transcends time. With over 7 blocks of shopping, dining and entertainment Old Town Temecula offers modern conveniences in an old western hometown feeling. Don’t forget to stop by Pennypickles Workshop children’s museum and grab a treat from the Old Town Sweet Shop.

Hollywood and Highland Center
Hollywood is iconic to Southern California and movie making glamour culture. The Hollywood and Highland Center is a shopping center and entertainment complex and the perfect spot to experience Hollywood with kids. You can get an excellent view of the iconic Hollywood Sign from the north side of the center, and you can walk along the Hollywood Walk of Fame on the sidewalk. Catch a kid friendly movie at the historic El Capitan theater right across the street too.

Rainbow Harbor Long Beach
The Rainbow Harbor of Long Beach offers several days’ worth of family fun entertainment. From the historic Queen Mary, vibrant Aquarium of the Pacific, whale watching tours, shopping and dining to the charming boardwalk at Shoreline Village.

Santa Monica Pier
The city of Santa Monica is absolutely gorgeous with its deep blue skies, palm trees and ocean. The city is iconic to Southern California lifestyle. The Santa Monica Pier was built 1909 as the first concrete pier on the west coast, and an amusement park was created to attract visitors. Today, hundreds of thousands of people flock to the Santa Monica Pier to soak in the sun and have a great day.

Corona Del Mar State Beach
All of Southern California is surrounded by gorgeous stretches of beaches, but the Corona Del Mar State Beach is the most gorgeous and most convenient beach to visit with kids. They’ll love to splash in the waves and you’ll love the close parking, clean bathrooms, and soft, fine sand.

If you needed a reason to relocate to Southern California before, I have given you plenty of reasons to pack your bags and move right now!
